Acting Town Secretary
Administrative Support:
Council Support: Provides administrative support to the Town Council, including preparing meeting agendas, taking and distributing minutes, and maintaining official records.
Communication: Facilitates communication between the council and the public, other municipalities, and state and federal offices.
Record Management: Oversees the town's records management program, ensuring the security and accessibility of all municipal records.
Elections: Acts as the Chief Election Officer, administering all town elections.
Public Information: Coordinates the timely processing of public information requests.
Other Important Duties:
Maintaining Town Documents: Maintains and updates documents such as the town's code of ordinances and charter.
Issuing Permits and Licenses: Issues various permits and licenses, such as marriage, fishing, and dog licenses, and collects associated fees.
Notary Services: Serves as a notary public for the town.
Fiscal Responsibilities: May be involved in budgeting, expenditure review, or budget administration.
Risk Management: Oversees risk management functions related to liability, property insurance, and claims.
Community Engagement: Responds to and resolves citizen inquiries and complaints.
Attending Meetings: Attends meetings of the Town Council and other boards and committees as required.
Coordinating Appointments: Coordinates the appointment process for town boards, commissions, and committees.
Oath of Office: Conducts oaths of office.
Town Seal: Maintains custody of the town seal.
